TEPCO Renewable Power joins the TetraSpar offshore wind foundation project
Kromann Reumert has advised TEPCO Renewable Power, Inc. (TEPCO RP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, in connection with its acquisition of a minority stake in TetraSpar Demonstrator ApS (TetraSpar).
TEPCO RP has hereby joined TetraSpar's floating foundation demonstration project, alongside Shell Ventures B.V., RWE Renewables International Participations B.V., and Stiesdal Offshore Technologies A/S.
TetraSpar is developing a floating offshore wind turbine foundation, and has currently completed the onshore assembly of its innovative factory-made floating foundation. Commissioning is expected in 2021.
The concept is expected to offer important competitive advantages over existing floating wind concepts, with the potential for leaner manufacturing, assembly, and installation processes, and with lower material costs.
