Maria Holst Levin specializes in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), regulation of energy businesses, company law and FDI regulation. 

Maria advises Danish and foreign clients on M&A and energy law and is very experienced in leading M&A processes, including, especially, cross border transactions and joint ventures, drafting and negotiating contracts and doing legal due diligence.

She has been in charge of both major and minor transactions, including some of the more significant transactions within the Danish energy sector in recent years (involving e.g. solar projects, wind projects, biogas, power distribution and district heating). Maria has extensive experience in coordinating and structuring legal advice from foreign lawyers in cross-border transactions, and in managing and coordinating major cross-border transactions.

Maria assists with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, especially within the energy sector (e.g. corporate power purchase agreements and project development agreements) and has handled several matters involving the Danish oil pipe infrastructure as well as oil exploration and production.

Also, Maria has considerable experience with direct and indirect transfers of licences issued under the Danish Subsoil Act, the Danish Electricity Supply Act and the Danish Natural Gas Supply Act. 

Further, she specializes in corporate and commercial law and advises on all types of company law issues, including national and international reorganizations. Maria has extensive experience in providing advice on transaction structuring from a corporate law perspective (for example mergers, demergers, capital changes). From time to time, she also acts as chairman at general meetings.

Maria contributes, internally and externally, to the sharing of knowledge, not only on M&A matters, but also on company law and energy law. For example at external M&A crash courses and M&A case competitions in cooperation with Juridisk Diskussionsklub (association of the law students at the University of Copenhagen). 

In addition, Maria is part of the team of lecturers at the board leadership education programme offered by Borsen. From time to time, she also teaches at the CBS Board Leadership Education.

Maria is known for her structured approach, clear communication and focus on finding commercial solutions. 

Finally, Maria was appointed Talent 100 in 2019 by Berlingske.
