Internal investigations

Kromann Reumert assists with carrying out internal investigations, and we frequently use customized IT tools for that purpose. We often work with public accountants and foreign law firms in such investigations and have invaluable experience of what is needed.

We perform internal investigations within different thematic areas, for instance financial crime, money laundering, GDPR, marketing law, financial affairs, competition law or procurement law. Key words in the internal investigations include protection of legal privilege, systematics and accuracy.

Each year we carry out a large number of internal investigations for our clients. Some of the investigations are performed simultaneously with investigations by the police or other authorities. Other investigations have as their purpose to ensure compliance with internal rules or national law regulating business practices.

The investigations are often designed to reveal criminal conduct and, where relevant, to gather the evidence and facts needed to discontinue such conduct. Furthermore, internal investigations are often used in cases about internal fraud or asset recovery.

On discovery or suspicion of a case, we assist clients with investigating the incident and finding any existing evidence. If desired, we also assist clients in preventing continued infringements, involving relevant authorities, reducing the risk of new irregularities, and handling any legal consequences in the form of regulatory or police investigations, fines or civil actions before the courts.

Our work is based on thoroughly tested methods of solving and clarifying facts, employing bespoke IT tools, including our own eKRim solution, to deliver intelligent legal solutions.
