Maritime and transport law disputes

Kromann Reumert has conducted maritime and transport law cases, in court and in arbitration, for generations.

We act in a wide variety of cases in maritime and transport law, i.a. cases over transporter damage, load damage, general average losses, collisions, and salvage operations. We have also built a strong practice in cases over compensation for cancelled or delayed flights.

Clients seeking our assistance in these fields are both Danish and foreign underwriters, shipping companies, charterers, cargo owners, shipyards, carriers and forwarding agents. We therefore have detailed insight into the legal issues and questions that arise and are able to view the dispute from widely different perspectives.

We have represented, among others:

  • a shipping line in a high-profile and noteworthy legal action before the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court concerning general average (2020)
  • a foreign shipyard in a major arbitration case over the total loss of a ship during rebuilding (2019)
  • a big airline company in a Supreme Court action over compensation for delays (2017).
