E-commerce and consumer law

We have extensive experience in advising on all e-commerce and consumer law aspects.

E-commerce is a rapidly evolving area of law that offers new opportunities and poses new risks to businesses. Many online sales are sales to consumers. At the same time, the media and general public are paying increased attention to consumer matters, making consumer law relevant to many businesses.

We assist a wide variety of Danish and international businesses with issues relating to their online sales and marketing activities, including cross-border sales. As one of only a few Danish law firms, our specialist skills span consumer law aspects of marketing law and the law relating to the sale of goods.

Such activities often give rise to legal special challenges, including in relation to

  • consumer rights
  • regulation of means of payment
  • marketing rules
  • personal data protection
  • distance selling regulations
  • disclosure obligations
  • regulation of platform trading
  • choice of law and venue rules.

We provide a wide range of businesses with forward-looking advice and dispute resolution services, including in complaints proceedings before the Danish Consumer Complaints Board and in dialogue with the Danish Consumer Ombudsman and other authorities.

We also represent clients in cases involving tort and criminal liability for online service providers.
