We advise on issues such as:

• the compatibility of specific municipal transactions with the framework set by municipal authority and special legislation
• municipalities’ authority to carry on business activities, in corporate form or otherwise
• all aspects of the rules of the Municipal Government Act.

We also have considerable experience in municipal company formation, including in connection with: 

• specific urban and harbour renewal projects
• the current separation of operational and regulatory responsibilities in the water and waste water sectors
• the upcoming restructuring and opening of the waste disposal sector for enhanced competition between public – i.a. intermunicipal operating companies – and private operators. These changes may also include a requirement of operation in corporate form.
